Melvin was born, raised and currently still lives in Prince George’s County, MD. He graduated from Gonzaga College High School and went on to receive a B.B.A. in Finance from Howard University.

His fast track to real estate success was forged when he successfully passed the Maryland state Realtor exam in the spring of 1991 and became the youngest licensed Realtor in Maryland, Washington DC or Virginia.

Melvin chose to pursue a career in real estate investment and while building his own portfolio, he began speaking, writing, coaching and ultimately managing over $32MM of real estate investment portfolios alongside other investors.

Melvin decided to get back into traditional residential real estate but with a higher purpose and obtained his broker’s license in December 2015. He immediately opened a real estate brokerage in Upper Marlboro, Maryland as a 2 person operation in January 2015. Within 3 years he grew the brokerage to over 155 dynamic agents and 7 superstar staff members. Additionally, they made their way onto the Washington Post TOP Workplace stage in 2018 & 2020. EXIT Flagship Realty is the highest-ranking Real Estate Brokerage on the list for all of the TOP Workplaces in DC, MD & VA.
